New York rapper Jay-Z has certainly cemented his place in music history after scoring his 11th number 1 album--a first for any solo artist.
Thanks to a tireless promotion regimen culminating in a live national telecast from Madison Square Garden last Friday, the MTV VMAs and a performance on this week’s premiere of The Jay Leno Show, Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3, the first album for his own Roc Nation label through Atlantic Records, debuts at #1, with 465k+ in sales.
Jay's debut effectively beats out the record he previously tied with Elvis Presley of 10 number 1 albums.
In related news, the creative minds behind the Blue Print 3 artwork have released a time lapse video demonstrating exactly how everything came together.
The cover, which many perceived to be computer
generated graphics, was actually shot over 3 days on 10×8 inch film.
The inspiration came from the "Letter E" photography shot by Dan Tobin.
