Former Bad Boy rapper Jamal "Shyne" Barrows, now known as Moses Levi after converting to Judaism, will finally be released from prison after serving nearly nine years in prison.
According to MTV News, On Tuesday (August 4), a Manhattan judge signed an order that will see Shyne be released on Ocotober 6th, 2009 and receive two-and-a-half years of post-release supervision stemming from his 2001 conviction and sentencing in the infamous Club New York case.
Shyne was found guilty of first degree assault after a club patron was shot in the face during a December,1999 melee between club goers and Diddy's crew.
Shyne allegedly fired a gun in the air to break up the chaos, a bullet hit Natania Reuben in the face. Reuben survived the gun shot with bullet fragments still remaining in her skull.
Due to the violent nature of the crime, Shyne's previous parole hearings were denied.
"He's about 90 percent of the way home now," attorney Oscar Michelin told MTV News following the hearing.
Shyne has a mandatory release scheduled for October 6 of this year.
The date will mark eight years and seven months served; he began his sentence in April of 2001, when he was 22 years old.
Shyne will serve the rest of his sentence at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, New York.
