Documentary Chronicling Big L's Life Coming To Stores

The life of Harlem rapper Lamont “Big L” Terry will be told via a new documentary titled Street Struck: The Big L Story.

Produced by Dangerzone Films, Street Struck takes a look at Big L’s rise, from his early involvement with groups like Children of Da Corn (featuring Mase, McGruff, Bloodshed and Cam’ron) to his role as a member of the legendary Diggin In The Crates collective of rappers and producers.

Street Struck also chronicles Big L’s ascent as one of the most gifted, technical rappers in the genre.

The documentary, which was produced by Dangerzone Films, features rare stories and photographs about Big L, as told by various family members, friends and other rappers who worked with him.

The final version of the documentary will also feature extremely rare footage of Big L and the late Big Pun performing together on stage and conducting an interview from the set of Fat Joe’s “John Blaze” video shoot.

Artists like Mysonne, DJ Premier, Showbiz, McGruff, Cipha Sounds, Stan Spit and others give an insiders view of Big L, who was tragically killed in a barrage of bullets in February of 1999 in Harlem.

Big L’s murder remains unsolved by New York police.

In related news, a mural of Big L on 140th Street in Harlem was slated to be re-done to withstand the elements and to touch up the painting.

Although there is no release date for Street Struck: The Big L Story, sources told AllHipHop.com that the documentary will be released in February, to mark the 11th year of Big L’s death.

NYPD Doesn't Let 50 Cent In The Hood, Show Must Go On

Queens bred rapper 50 Cent didn't let the cancellation of his hometown concert deter him from showing love to his old neighborhood.

The South Jamaica, Queens rapper bussed a number of families to New Jersey's Great Adventures and put on an hour plus set for them.

Fif's original plans of performing in Queens were shot down after failing to obtain a permit reportedly due to fear of gang violence taking place.

The "shot to morale" as Q-tip put it, wasn't enough to keep Fif from performing as he took the stage the following day in front of numerous families from the neighborhood
.

"I wanna thank y'all for getting on the bus," 50 said between songs.

"When I tried to do it in the 'hood ... they tell me I don't come through the 'hood. I come through. But you don't see me 'cause I'm usually in something where I can't be seen.

You see them over there, though, that's the motherfucking police
. They the ones that say I can't do it. I'm from the Southside!"

Jadakiss Issues Statement Regarding Drug Raid

Def Jam Recording artist Jadakiss issued a statement early Wednesday evening distancing himself from a recent raid of his Yonkers, New York apartment.

The home was searched by local law enforcement following the arrest of 25-year-old Alberto Lajara and 39-year-old Gabriel R. Henriquez, who presumably reside in the Van der Donck Street apartment, leased under Jadakiss’ legal name, Jason Phillips.

According to published reports, Lajara and Henriquez were arrested on Friday (August 21) and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct; and felonious second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, second-degree assault, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, respectively.

On Saturday (August 22), police executed a search warrant for the apartment in question, recovering five grams of heroin, six and a half pounds of marijuana and $40,000 in cash.

"What happened on Saturday was an unfortunate situation but one in which I have no involvement in,” Jadakiss told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “Since the release of my recent album The Last Kiss, I have been on the road touring and promoting my project. I am focused on my performance schedule and career."

The statement is consistent with sources who, following the raid, reported that the police were not looking for the popular Ruff Ryders rapper.

With a beavy of A-List appearances by the likes of Swizz Beatz, Mary J. Blige, OJ da Juiceman, Young Jeezy, Ghostface Killa, Raekwon, and fellow D-Block/LOX members Styles P and Sheek Louch, The Last Kiss marked Jada’s highest first week chart position as a solo artist.

The album, his third solo offering and the first on Def Jam Records, debuted at the #3 position on the Billboard Hot 200.

The Last Kiss remained on the chart for 19 weeks following its April 25 release.

Woman Beat At 50's Mansion For Refusing Oral Sex

A man employed by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records is accused of attacking a woman last Sunday (August 16), after she refused his requests for oral sex.

News broke last week that Dwayne McKenzie, 28, and Michelle Krzykowski, 21, were accused of assaulting a woman on 50 Cent’s sprawling mansion in Farmington, Connecticut.

The incident began after McKenzie made the request, which resulted in an argument between McKenzie and one of the woman’s friends.

When the two women and their friends attempted to leave, Krzykowski attacked one of the women, striking her in the head with a hard object, as McKenzie held the woman down.

The unknown woman, who had danced in music videos in the past, managed to pepper spray McKenzie, Krzykowski, flee the scene and call 911.

According to the Hartford Courtant, the woman’s head wound was serious, requiring a total of 9 staples to close the gash.

Krzykowski has told police that she was intoxicated during the assault and only remembers that the women had called her a “cracker.”

50 Cent Employee Arrested A Third Time After Once Again Assaulting A Woman

An employee for New York rapper 50 Cent has been arrested for a third time after once again being accused of assaulting a woman at the rappper's Connecticut mansion.

According to reports, Dwayne Mckenzie, who works for Fif's G-Unit company and resides on the property, allegedly requested oral sex from a woman during an Aug. 16 gathering at the 50,000-square-foot mansion in the Hartford metropolitan area suburb.

When a friend of the woman took offense, a brief physical altercation ensued. Things didn't stop there however, according to a warrant for McKenzie's arrest, when the woman and her friend decided to leave the mansion, witnesses said, another woman, Michelle Krzykowski, ran after them and grabbed the friend-- McKenzie told her she was attacking the wrong person but that didn't halt the attack.

Krzykowski hit the woman with a hard object, leaving a large gash in her head, police said.

Witnesses told police McKenzie pinned the woman to the ground while Krzykowski hit her.

McKenzie claims the accusation that he urged Krzykowski to attack the woman "is totally false," said his lawyer, Gerald Klein, who has represented him before.

McKenzie was arrested last year after a New Britain woman called cops to the mansion claiming the then 27-year-old choked her and struck her with a belt during an argument.

He was also arrested a year before that ('07) in Hartford after he allegedly pistol-whipped a party promoter for failing to announce his after party at the rapper's mansion.

Cam'rom Talks Squashing Beef With 50 Cent

"Nah, I'm not going to no show in Queens," Cam said. "I don't know how true it is ... a few of my people — associates — said [some of 50's associates] was trying to reach out. But I ain't going to no concert in Queens. Come up to Harlem Week. We could sit down and have the roundtable meeting if you really wanna be serious. Or meet anywhere ... we can meet in Benihana's if you wanna be serious. It don't matter. I'm not squashing a problem we had in Queens at your event. That's the same way he got other artists to come to his shows, whether they was down with Dipset or D-Block or T.S., or whatever the case may be. It ain't no real beef, but we ain't gonna squash what we had at a Queens event. We'll meet halfway — Triborough Bridge or something. But I ain't going to no show in Queens. I'll be at Harlem Week."

C-Murder Found Guilty Of Murder

A New Orleans jury has found rapper Corey "C-Murder" Miller guilty of second-degree murder.

In 2003, Miller was convicted of fatally beating and killing a fan at a Louisiana nightclub.

The jury came across the verdict earlier this morning, though the judge has issued more time to spend on the matter, as one of the jurors seemed "in a rush to end the trial".

The jury told Judge Hans Liljeberg that they were 'deadlocked' over Miller's alleged 2002-murder of Steve Thomas.

Prosecutors concluded their arguments with the jury at 10:00, while Miller's attorney finished his around 10:40 AM. The verdict comes seven years after the passing of sixteen year-old Thomas, who would have been twenty-three this year.

If indeed found guilty, Miller faces a lifetime prison sentence.

C-Murder found early success with first LP Life or Death, which was certified platinum by the RIAA.

Jay-Z Brings Oprah To The Hood

Is Oprah's beef with Hip Hop over? Not likely, but it may be taking a step in the right direction.

New York rapper Jay-Z was seen walking around Marcy Projects with Oprah yesterday, hinting of the Hip Hop moguls upcoming appearance on the talk show host's couch.

Oprah has been at odd ends with many rappers in Hip Hop for some time now.

From shutting out Ludacris during an interview for Crash to not even inviting Ice Cube on stage during a cast interview for Barbershop, Oprah's dislike for the genre has been apparent.

"Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop. She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show." Ice Cube is said in an interview.

"And if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?" He continued.

Well, we now have an answer--and apparently it's Jay-Z.

According to the rumor mill Winfrey was shooting a segment for an upcoming episode of her show, which will feature Hov.

The rapper is prepping the release of his highly anticipated 'Blueprint 3' album, which hits stores September 11.

Rapper Brisco Pistol-Whipped, Robbed In Barbershop

Miami police are seeking four men who pistol-whipped and robbed Opa-locka, Florida rapper Brisco.

According to the Miami Herald, four men - three armed with guns - entered a barbershop on Sixth Avenue last Wednesday (July 29). Brisco, who has record records with rappers like Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, arrived at the barbershop to get a hair cut around 1:00 PM.

One man entered the shop unarmed, pretending to be a customer.

He then placed a phone call and three armed men stormed the barbershop and stole over $35,000 worth of jewelry from the rapper, including a diamond-encrusted gold watch, a gold chain and gold bracelet.
"He went to the barbershop to get his haircut. They took a little bit more off the top than expected. This robbery was off the chain," a police spokeman said. "Four men entered the store guns drawn, firing shots. Luckily no one was hurt, robbing each individual that was in the barbershop. For a rapper to have his bring stolen, they might as well have stolen this man’s heart. They took his car also. He had a range rover. The vehicle was recovered in another location."

Additionally, the bandits stole a Louis Vuitton wallet and over $1,000 in cash, firing three shots as they ran off.

Police are currently seeking suspects.

Behind The Scenes Of Young Jeezy On Tour

Floyd Mayweather Vs. Officer Ricky

All C.O. jokes aside, “Mafia Music” is still one of the hardest records to drop in 2009. It’s also one of the most controversial. Just when the remnants of Ricky’s dispute with 50 was beginning to become a distant memory, another famous name now has a problem with the record, Floyd Mayweather. Questioning the true amount of the boxing champion’s wealth, Ross threw out the bar, “That Mayweather money lookin’ funny in the light.” Never one to bite his tounge, Floyd recently reminded the Triple C’s front man he hasn’t forgotten about the lyrical jab.

“I don’t have to take no shots at Rick Ross. I don’t think he’s making $20-$30 million every time he goes out there to perform. I got my own name, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. That’s original. With his rap career, I wish him nothing but the best.”

Traditionally, anyone taking shots at Ross have mentioned his law enforcement past. Add “Money” Mayweather to the list.

“[His] stats and credentials don’t rhyme. One minute he said he wasn’t a CO or cop, next minute he is,” Mayweather told AllHipHop.com. “He can learn how to get money from me. If he’s a cop and rapping about selling drugs, I guess he was a dirty cop! You know me, I’m not ducking and dodging no one, it’s not hard to find me. I’m in Miami all the time, Atlanta, everywhere.”
….
“Rap has truly changed. He was at my Hatton fight, cheering me on. I guess he got upset because I’m cool with 50 Cent. But like I said, if I need someone arrested I’ll call him.”

With all the bad press the sport has been receiving lately, boxing doesn’t need arguably it’s biggest name having disagreements with an entertainer. Part of me wants to say let Floyd and Kimbo fight this thing out and both parties can call it even from there. More importantly than Mayweather taking shots at Ross, I need Mayweather to start throwing verbal punches in Manny Pacquiao’s direction.

That’s what I’ll pay to see.

Ja Rule Calls Eminem SuperHead In Response To Mariah Carey Diss

New York rapper and Eminem nemesis Ja Rule has decided to throw in his two cents regarding the latest attack from Slim Shady.

While fans have been very vocal about the Mariah Carey diss track, the music industry has been rather mum. Ja, who is no stranger to Eminem diss tracks however, says a beef between a female and a male shouldn't be taken to music.

"It all stemmed from an Eminem comment," Rule said in Mariah's defense.

"With him saying he peed on her or some shit like that, I don't, you know, come on. Real talk, there really shouldn't be any [diss] records being made. [laughs] It should be a lot of swinging and swinging. But hey, it is what it is...

I don't feel like -- I don't have to insult a woman.Even if he did do that, let's say he did do that, you're kissing and telling now? You a chick? You Superhead? You kissing and telling and shit? I don't know."

While the cause of death has not been released due to pending toxicology reports, a source close to Baatin told AllHipHop.com the rapper may have died from a crack addiction or from complications related to crack cocaine use.

While funeral arrangements have not been set as of press time, a public remembrance is set to take place tonight at 5 E Gallery.

Despite Baatin‘s death, Slum Village took to the stage yesterday during the Rock The Bells Festival at Deer Lake in Vancouver, Canada.

“It's actually quite amazing," Rock The Bells founder Change Weisberg told the Calgary Sun. "I don't know that I'd be on stage right now. I might be back home with the family, but they're committed. It's probably the best thing they could do right now to keep their minds off things."

Cypress Hill has been flown in to give the second Calgary Rock The Bells stop at Shaw Millennium Park a boost of positive energy, as rap fans across the world mourn Baatin’s untimely death.
