UPDATE: Lil Wayne Avoids Charges, Reschedules Show
Lil Wayne will not face drug charges related to a raid of the rapper’s tour bus yesterday (December 18) in Falfurrias, Texas.
The rapper and 11 members of his entourage were detained yesterday by United States Border Patrol, after drug sniffing dogs caught the scent of marijuana on two tour buses.
A search of the vehicles turned up an undisclosed amount of the drug. A lawyer for the rapper told TMZ.com that several members in the group were given citations, although Lil Wayne was not one of them.
The detainment caused Lil Wayne to miss a scheduled performance at The Laredo Entertainment Center last night, although the show has been rescheduled to take place tonight (December 19).
Lil Wayne is slated to begin a year-long prison sentence in February after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, after a police officer found a .40 caliber pistol on the rapper’s tour bus in New York in 2007.

Jermaine Dupri Denies Abandoning Da Brat In Prison
So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri has responded to critics who claim that he is not supporting incarcerated rapper Da Brat.
Da Brat became involved in an altercation with an aspiring model/Atlanta Falcons cheerleader named Shayla Stevens, who was working as a waitress at a night club Dupri owned outside of Atlanta.
In the ensuing altercation, Da Brat struck Stevens with a bottle of rum, causing multiple lacerations on her face which required stitches and left scars.
Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2008 for her role in the assault.
According to Dupree he is in regular contact with Da Brat, who is serving her time at Arrendale Federal Prison in Alto Georgia.
“I spoke to her via letters back and forth and she’s good. She’s ready to come home and do what she gotta do,” Jermaine Dupri told V-103's Ryan Cameron this morning. “We are basically on the move to try and get her out.”
While he has corresponded with Da Brat via letters, he admitted that he hasn’t been to physically see her at Arrendale.
“Those people, they don’t really know me like that to say nothing about what I’m doing with my personal situation with Da Brat When Brat come home, I am going to be the person that take care of her and make sure she gets back on her feet and do what she gotta…that’s just like everybody talking about Tiger Woods. We know nothing about the situation and everybody should shut up.”
Dupri admitted that he hasn’t been to see Da Brat since her incarceration. He told Da Brat his reasoning in several of the letters he has written to her.
“I felt a certain way about seeing Brat in jail. That’s my little sister and I don’t really want to deal with that situation like that. I would prefer dealing with getting her out and seeing that day as opposed to going to see her…only reason I am saying this on the air is because I explained this to Brat. In my letter, I let her know the same thing."
Da Brat has remained productive throughout her incarceration.
Both Dupri and Da Brat are the subjects of a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit filed by Stevens.

Lil Wayne Doc 'The Carter' Shoots To #1 on iTunes
A controversial new documentary about superstar rapper Lil Wayne has shot to the top of the iTunes movie charts.
QD3 Entertainment’s film The Carter is currently the No. 1 selling documentary on iTunes in the U.S.
In addition to landing the top slot on Apple's iTunes U.S.’ music store, The Carter is also in the Top 10 on the Canadian iTunes music store alongside such blockbusters as Bruno and GI Joe.
“Having our Lil Wayne The Carter documentary place in the Top 10 on both U.S. and Canadian iTunes store within the first 48 hours, competing neck and neck with multi-million dollar studio films such as Bruno and GI Joe during Christmas season is quite a feat for a self distributed indie doc and beyond our expectations,” QD3 Entertainment CEO Quincy Jones III told AllHipHop.com. “We are very excited about continuing to innovate within the digital space.”
The Carter was released on November 17th and is an in depth look at the personal and professional life of rapper Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is known for his rigorous touring schedule and frequent drug use, which is spotlighted in the documentary.
In April of 2009, a judge rejected a request by Lil Wayne's lawyer to block the distribution of the DVD, due to several scenes in the movie which the rapper and his management objected to, reportedly because of his drug use.
The rapper's management claimed they requested to have the questionable scenes removed, but those scenes were still in The Carter, when it premiered at the Sundance film festival in January.
Despite the lawsuit Jones told AllHipHop.com that the documentary’s release is in line with a digital distribution strategy the company has been developing in 2001.
"It was my goal since the inception of QD3 Entertainment in 2001 to have a strong focus on digital distribution and multi platform innovation,” Jones told AllHipHop.com. “Since 2001 our primary means of marketing have been organic and viral on digital platforms. Using this approach we've been able to sell over 2 million DVD's via the QD3 (DVD) collection at physical retail….this is the era we have preparing for all along by retaining all rights to our content and were about to launch a couple of digital content and social media platforms by early 2010 utilizing our over 3,500 hour library of high quality content that includes films such as Tupac Shakur - Thug Angel and the multi platinum Beef.”
QD3 Entertainment’s The Carter was directed by Adam Bhala Lough and is currently available on iTunes for $14.99.

Exclusive: Dolla's Mom Speaks; Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty For Murder
The family of slain rapper Dolla will celebrate his 22nd birthday today (November 25th) with the release of a brand new mixtape titled The Miseducation of Dolla.
Dollar, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, was gunned down in front of the Beverly Center on May 18th 2009.
Just hours after the shooting, police arrested Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, as he attempted to flee California via a flight from Los Angeles Airport, back to his hometown of Atlanta.
“Just a few hours before the incident, I spoke to my son and he was on his way home catching a flight out. I stay close to the airport, so he used to stop by," Dolla’s mother Dawnee Robinson exclusively told AllHipHop.com. "He told me what he wanted for dinner. He wanted some yellow rice, cabbage and chicken wings. So I went to the store and made sure I had everything. So when I got the call, I was cooking his dinner.”
While numerous reports have made references to Dolla’s alleged ties to the Crips street gang, Dolla’s mother denied those claims and said her son was simply into Hip-Hop music.
“He's always been inquisitive and ambitious and wanted to know everything about everything,” Ms. Robinson told AllHipHop.com. "[He] read everything in sight. Asked a lot of questions and he's always been, you know just a light. I’m so blessed Allah chose me to be his mother.”
While Dolla’s music may have reflected the street life, his mother claimed he was an aspiring rapper who was trying to fulfill his dreams through music and modeling, when he was murdered in cold blood.
“My son was always working, always in the studio,” Robinson revealed. “He spent a lot of time at home with us when he wasn’t on the road. So you know, whatever caused this person to murder my son, I'm still in total disbelief and can't understand what would, provoke anyone to do something like,” an upset Robinson stated.
Dolla started rapping at the age of 11 and after a short lived deal with Dreamworks, he was signed to Akon's Konvict Muzic record label in 2007.
Akon made a cameo appearance on Dolla's biggest single "Who the F**k is That," which also featured Florida producer/rapper T-Pain.
The rapper was in Los Angeles recording material for his debut album for the label, when he was shot and killed near the V.I.P.valet parking area of the Beverly Center.
“He was finishing his album and mixing his mixtape. It was also his girlfriend's 23rd birthday that lived in Los Angeles, but she goes to school at Clark [Clark-Atlanta University]. So he was killing three birds with one stone. Mixing, finishing up his music and enjoying her birthday weekend. So that's why he was there."
Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, is charged with murder and assault. He claimed that he acted out of self defense after Dolla and his crew threatened him in the Beverly Center.
The former promoter from Atlanta is being held on $2 million dollars bail for his role in the murder and has pled not guilty to the charge.
Sources told AllHipHop.com that prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Berry for the murder of Dolla.
While Dolla’s mother expressed grief over the fact the two young men had lost their lives, she did state that she wanted to see justice pursued to the full extent of the law.
“Hey, all I know is that is not OK to go around shooting and killing people,” Robinson told AllHipHop.com. “That's not what I believe in. That's not what my son believed in and I feel that anyone who is so bold to take another life, for no apparent reason, I feel that they should be prosecuted with full extent of the law and that's how I feel."
Dolla’s new mixtape The Miseducation of Dolla hit the internet today, along with two previously unreleased tracks, “Ghetto Prayer” featuring J. Valentine and “Gonna Be Alright.”
"His legacy is a great one,” Robinson stated. “I believe that you know in due time you know Bu [Akon’s brother/business partner], Akon and Damian Jackson, Dolla’s manager and mentor will make the step to put things out really soon. The mixtape came out today on his birthday as a free download. We just want him to heard."

Beanie Sigel and 50 Cent to Debut New Track This Friday
The first official music pairing of 50 Cent and Beanie Sigel called “I Go Off” will debut this Friday (November 13) on Thisis50.com.
Utilizing the Friday the 13th movie franchise logo, the promo artwork features 50 and Beans doing a faceoff with the tagline “The Nightmare Begins.”
Last week, Sigel and 50 made an appearance on Philly’s Power 99 station to explain their partnership.
During the interview, Sigel verified his signing with G Unit, and his intentions to continue more diss records like “Average Cat” to his former mentor Jay-Z.
“He's a crumb. I’m putting my foot on his neck ‘til he responds. Please make a record, ‘cause a week been out dog,” Sigel stated. “Not taking nothing from Jay as an artist. All I’m saying is I ain’t gotta jog to keep up with him. Watch what I do next.”
Since the interview, there has been no official confirmation if Beanie Sigel is legally signed to G Unit Records.
At press time, neither 50 Cent or Beanie have revealed if the new “I Got Off” track will address the Jay-Z situation further.

Beanie Joins G-Unit: 'I'm Putting My Foot On His Neck'
50 Cent’s efforts to support former Roc-a-Fella Records artist Beanie Sigel seem to have resulted in a deal to bring the Broad Street Bully to G-Unit Records.
Both artists confirmed the move during a private screening of 50’s directorial debut, Before I Self Destruct on Tuesday evening (November 3) in Philadelphia.
The presentation was hosted by Power 99 (WUSL-FM), which allowed fans the opportunity to win tickets to the screening .
Sigel joined 50 towards the end of an on-air interview with “The Hot Boyz” Mikey Dredd and Uncle O, leading to a candid ten minute conversation.
During the interview, 50 and Beans revealed that “Beans is coming to G-Unit,” with no additional details as to how soon the new partnership might yield an album or single.
The interview also presented a chance for Sigel to respond to Jay-Z’s reaction to “Average Cat.”
“People think that I’m just speaking out because I’m in the position that I am and I ain’t put no music out. Let’s go to Jay-Z’s rebuttal about the complaints of Beanie Sigel: the two Bentleys that I obtained, Jay-Z had nothing to do with that. That was a car from Damon Dash and from Kareem Burke.”
He goes on to explain that the car was given to him after a conversation between Dame and others revealed that Dash was in fact the owner and driver of the Bentley, at which point he no longer wanted to be seen driving the vehicle.
The other Bentley was given to him as a birthday present by Burkes, leaving him to pay the remaining balance on the car note.
“So, Beanie Sigel was driving around to Bentleys and had to pay $5100 a month. It’s not like you helped me attain all this wealth and gave me the two Bentleys. You didn’t give me a record label. It only cost a couple hundred dollars to search the name ‘State Property Records,’ nobody owned it; I think I paid another couple hundred dollars and I patented the LLC. So my record label only cost me $750, to say on a piece of paper that I own State Property Records, LLC. I did that on my own, you didn’t give me that. And what artists was on that label?”
Beans reveals that he was only a 20% partner in the State Property clothing line, with Jay-Z, Dame Dash and their Rocawear partners owning the rest.
Sigel had presented the idea to Dash as their relationship drew strength based on the rift between Jay and Dame, he says.
Even though he revealed that Damon Dash allegedly went behind his back and sabotaged State Property’s clothing product, Sigel admonished Jay-Z for what he refers to as continued unnecessary jabs at a man he’s clearly defeated.
“Take me out, Dame and Biggs were your mans from day one. If he [Dame] was messing up the money y’all should’ve been able to straighten that out. Whatever the gripe, you took everything from him already,” Sigel argued. “You took the clothing line, the record label, he has nothing. Now he’s going through financial difficulties. Then he loses his wife and gets a divorce. You feel that comfortable on a record to say ‘Lucky Lefty, kiss the wife goodnight for me.?’ You already killed the man, he’s dead already! Now you’re going to stand over top of him and urinate on him and stomp on him? You can do that? I got something to say about that."
On whether to expect more diss records, Sigel made it clear he would continue to go at Jay lyrically until he gets a response, and predicted he has the skill set to emerge vuictorious.
“He's a crumb. I’m putting my foot on his neck ‘til he responds. Please make a record, ‘cause a week been out dog,” he taunted.
“Not taking nothing from Jay as an artist. All I’m saying is I ain’t gotta jog to keep up with him. Watch what I do next,” Beans “said as he did the signature G Unit stuttering proclamation.

Lil Wayne & Birdman Involved In Yet Another Legal Battle
Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Cash Money Records are involved in yet another legal battle over copyright claims.
Thomas Marasciullo is suing the rappers for copyright infringement, claiming he created some "Italian-styled spoken word recordings" for them in 2006, but did not give the pair permission to use them.
Marasciullo alleges the recordings were used on a number of songs on the rappers' joint album Like Father, Like Son as well as on some tracks on Birdman's CD 5 (Star) Stunna.
Marasciullo discovered his work had been used when his daughter discovered his "Respect" while trying buy a ring-tone version of the Aretha Franklin classic by the same name, the lawsuit said.
His son also became entangled in the case when he was fired from a recording engineer job at Cash Money Records after the father started demanding payment.
In recent years, Lil Wayne, Birdman, & Cash Money Records have been sued for copyright infringement over four times.

Beanie Airs Jay-Z Out On Philly Radio
Beanie Sigel called into Philadelphia radio station 100.3 The Beat this morning (October 30), where he discussed a controversial new track in which he disses Jay-Z.
Sigel expresses his frustration with Jay-Z on the track, because of lines on Jay’s Blueprint 3, as well as the handling of Sigel’s career after a prison stint in 2004, as Roc-A-Fella Records was breaking up.
This morning, Philadelphia rapper called into Charlamagne Tha God’s Morning Show and explained his motivation for releasing the record in detail.
Sigel claimed that several lines on Jay-Z’s song “Already” were the catalyst for the shocking diss record in addition to this treatment at Power 99’s Powerhouse concert last weekend, which Jay-Z headlined.
Additionally, the “Broad Street Bully” revealed that he felt slighted for not being included on Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album.
Sigel also reiterated his claims that Jigga abandoned Roc-A-Fella rap group State Property, which featured group members Freeway, Peedi Peedi, Oschino, Omillio Sparks, and the Young Gunz (Young Chris and Neef ).
“Jay in another place and I understand that. He did what he did as far as signing people to Roc-A-Fella Records, you did that,” Sigel told Charlamagne Tha God. “But as far as the push that people coulda got that really could have did things, you didn’t do that. If you look at 50 Cent - no disrespect to the G-Unit, cause I love the way 50 Cent did with his dogs - but if you look at it, them dudes got more money and more bread than anybody in State Property. Because 50 made sure of that. 50 took his people on tour and paid them, not tell them it was a good look for them to be on tour.”
Sigel claimed that life on Roc-A-Fella Records was not glamour and glitz, despite State Property’s output for Roc-A-Fella.
Collectively, or individually the Philadelphia group released hit records like “Feel It In the Air” (Beanie Sigel), “Roc the Mic” (Freeway) and “Can‘t Stop, Won‘t Stop” (Young Gunz) in addition to starring in two State Property movies and a State Property clothing line, which was sold in major department stores.
“The clothing line and all that came about cause Dame did that. Dame gave me the clothing line. I got the Pro-Keds thing that came from a situation that I did, but then Dame back doored the sneak and gets with the licensee guy who licenses Rocawear and buys the license out the Pro-Keds, without me knowing it,” Sigel said. “So now I am not getting 50 % profit that I would be getting off every Pro-Ked sneaker sold with the SP logo on it like the original deal was... As a team player, why just wear the Pro-Keds when I can cross-market it and have my own sneaker? Then Dame stopped making Pro-Keds with the SP symbol on it.”
Beanie Sigel revealed that he has not had a conversation with Jay-Z in over two years and that Dame Dash’s reckless spending was the reason for Roc-A-Fella’s demise.

Jigga Talks Video For "As Real As It Gets" Possible Tour In 2010 With Jeezy
With his album, still sitting very comfortably on the top five best selling albums on the Billboard charts, over a month since it was released. Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z is still on the grind. The former Def Jam C.E.O. is currently in the process of trying to film the video for his next single "As Real As It Gets" featuring Young Jeezy. According to Jeezy, the two have not filmed anything yet but planned to film a clip for the record in the near future.
"We just gonna go dumb, call Rick Ross up, everybody. We'll have cars, watches, blunts, money, just go dumb. Dumm-meeee! That's what we need to do."
In an interview with MTV, Jigga spoke about the video saying that the clip was still in the cards, but they had to figure out how some time to schedule everything where Hov and Jeezy could be together.
"Hopefully, we'll shoot that. But it's difficult. I don't have too many gaps in my schedule. So I'll try to figure it out. I really wanna do it in Atlanta. "At the moment Jay is on tour, performing at a wide array of places including several colleges, but he is already thinking about another tour, saying that he is already in the process of another one for early 2010 even hinting that Jeezy could be involved as well.
"Yeah, that's a possibility," Hov said.
"Young Jizzle, I got a great relationship with him. I think he's one of those guys that's gonna be here for a minute. People are interested in what he has to say. It's not about a song, although he makes great songs. It's more about what he has to say or what he has to offer: music that is sustainable, which is great and will be around forever."

A concert featuring Akon and T-Pain turned into pandemonium Sunday (October 25) that left 18 people injured in Melbourne, Australia.
The pair were headlining a concert at the HiSense Arena when rival gangs began brawling in the audience.
Nine people and two security guards were taken to the hospital in six ambulances, where they received treatment for lacerations, bruises and other minor injuries.

According to reports, it took Akon almost two years to receive his work permit in Australia, due to his prior criminal record.

Kay Slay Blames Album Delay On Plies; Replaces Rapper With Yo Gotti
A cameo appearance by rapper Plies on Kay Slay's upcoming album More Than Just a DJ has caused a rift between the emcee and the Hot 97 radio jock.
According to Kay Slay, he approached Plies about appearing in the video for the first single “Blockstars,” which originally featured Plies, Jim Jones, Busta Rhymes and Ray J.
Their relationship soured when Plies proved to be difficult for the veteran South Bronx DJ to reach in an attempt to shoot the video for the single.
“Blockstars” is the first single off of More Than Just a DJ, which is Kay Slay’s fourth official album.
The release was due in stores October 13 but was pushed back until December, while a new version of the single and video was shot.
“I had to push my album to December 8, because the f**k boy gets on the record, the f**k boy clears the record, the label do all the clearances. Then when its time to do the video, the n***a gets low. Stopped answering the phone, all kinds of crazy s**t,” Kay Slay told AllHipHop.com. “But that's cool because at the end of the day, the n***a really don't owe me nothing. But as a man, you're supposed to do what men do. If you gonna do something, just honor the s**t. If you don't want to, don't f**k with it."
According to Kay Slay, he wasted no time in choosing a replacement for Plies and choose Memphis rapper Yo Gotti to appear on both the track and the upcoming video for the single.
"He [Yo Gotti] did the video and he wasn't scared to come to New York anywhere to do the s**t [without] saying I need this amount of police to do this and a n***a got have on a uniform and all kinds of all f**k boy s**t," Kay Slay snapped.
Kay Slay, who hosts the popular “Drama Hour” on Hot 97 in New York each Saturday, implied that a combination of Plies youth and his platinum success was impairing his judgment.
"This is what happens when these n***s come around early and you show them love," Kay Slay said. "Plies has been on my show twice. The Real Rick Ross Sides With 50 Cent, Seeks New Faces For Films
Recently freed drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross has revealed plans for his career and record label now that he has his freedom, after a 20-year-prison sentence.
The Los Angeles-based rising entrepreneur has launched a label and website, FreewayEnterprise.com, which will seek new faces to star in new movies being produced by the reformed drug dealer.
Ross appeared on AllHipHop Radio’s Eric B. and Friends morning show today (October 26) and revealed details about his post-prison plans.
“I’m working on four movies right now, including one with Mike Epps," Ross revealed. "I am going to be letting people off the site play in the movie. If you are trying to get on that’s what we are doing, putting people on."
expressed his support for boxer Floyd Mayweather and rapper 50 Cent, two celebrities that have feuded with Miami rapper Rick Ross, who adopted the elder Ross’ name.
"50 Cent called me the day I got out and let me know if there was anything I needed to just let him know," Ross told AllHipHop.com Radio. "I don’t know how he got my cell but the morning I got out he called me and expressed his support."
During the interview, Ross broke down his strained relationship with Philadelphia rapper Freeway and Miami emcee Rick Ross, who was born William Roberts III.
“In the beginning I was offended being in prison. Prison makes you a little bitter. I was a little bitter that they didn’t reach out and show me some love for using my handle,” Ross continued. “But right now I am enjoying life. Freeway reached out a week before I got out, but Rick Ross has never reached out, he still hasn’t reached out.”
Ross was freed from the Texarkana Federal Prison in September of 2009, after serving 14-years of a 20-year sentence, after he was busted purchasing 100 kilos of cocaine from undercover agents in 1996.
An attempt to contact rapper Rick Ross was successful when the rap artist first burst upon the national scene in 2001, but the conversation didn’t go well.
“He abruptly stopped taking my phone calls," Ross told AllHipHop.com. "I didn’t come with my hand out, I came with ideas that I thought could make their career better. I don’t want to be around nobody where I am just getting fed, I want to be somebody that brings substance to the table.”
The drug baron, who often counted up to as much as a million-dollars per day through his crack dealing operations, is currently finalizing his autobiography in addition to a film centered around his controversial life.
“I am more prepared now than I ever have been before in my life,” Ross stated. “I took all my prior experiences and ive been able to flip them into this legitimate world. I’ve transformed my drug experiences into legitimate business.”

Mase bumrushes Diddy on live radio and gets him to sign release papers?
Mase Makes Puff Release Him In The Middle of V103's Ryan Cameron Show from shudduptv on Vimeo.
That signature wasn’t on a contract release form…it was basically an appearance release form. Basically, Diddy is allowing Mase to appear on songs with other artists. He is not freeing Mase from his contractual obligations to Bad Boy.
But this is a start, because Mase already has a big feature in the works, as well as a potential home at Interscope…..which would work out well in terms of those old contractual obligations because Diddy is already over at Interscope as well.
See how that would all fit together? Synergy, lol ; )

Shyne To Be Freed Today; Diddy Clarifies Relationship
Today (October 6), rapper Shyne will be released from prison after serving 9 years on assault and attempted murder charges.
At the time of his sentencing in 2001, Shyne has secured a gold debut album, and was poised to have a successful career run.
In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Sean “Diddy” combs spoke on his former star pupil’s release and their current relationship.
“Shyne is not signed to Bad Boy anymore,” Combs revealed to AllHipHop.com exclusively. “I looked forward to this day. The whole situation was a tragic situation. He’s a young man that has a whole life ahead of him to live to be successful and to come out here and put his foot in the game.”
Like the initial bidding war that preceded his Bad Boy signing, Shyne’s new label home has been the subject of much media speculation.
Mogul Jay-Z denied meeting with the rapper, but acknowledged a Roc Nation signing was a “possibility” and there would likely be a future meeting.
On this matter, Diddy offered clarity on whether there would be further music projects between the two.
“I don’t have anything to do with his personal business or his career,” Combs told AllHipHop.com. “As far as our relationship, only time will tell.”
Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, was sentenced to the lengthy stint in prison after a violent shootout inside of Club New York, while he attended a party with Combs and Combs’ then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.
Both he and Combs stood trial for the shooting. Combs was acquitted during the sensational trial, while Shyne was found guilty.
According to Shyne’s lawyer, Oscar Michelin, the rapper is required to complete two and a half years of probation per a special request from New York’s Correction Department.
